On the occasion of the “CIO of the year 2017” event, Data News chose the Wild Gallery and transformed it into a « Scottish » atmosphere. A double anniversary celebrating on the one hand the 25th anniversary of the award for the best ICT projects of the year, and on the other hand, the 10th anniversary of the victory of the Chief Information Officer of the year.
The CIOs that obtain this title are those who use ICT tools with the aim of “optimizing operational management and generating concrete added value for their company”. The major factor behind this appointment is therefore the ability of the contenders to demonstrate their leadership, strategic vision and dynamic approach to their profession.
The three nominees of this year are Dirk Altgassen (CIO Group of Etex), Sam Lloyd (CIO of Telenet) and Bjorn Van Reet (CIO of Kinepolis Group).
As for the winner of the CIO of the year 2017 award, he was elected thanks to the online votes of the readers of Data News before the event but also thanks to the votes, during the event, of a professional and academic jury. The latter was made up of representatives of Belgian IT communities, former laureates and IT academics.
The event began with a welcome reception, followed by a conference and awards presentation. After this great announcement, a walking dinner took place between the post-industrial walls of the Wild Gallery. This dinner was an opportunity for the ICT community to enjoy a networking moment.
The organizer, Datanews, is a monthly IT magazine of the Roularta media group that is interested in Belgian IT news, trends and opinions of this sector. It represents a reference for IT applications, technology, IT managers and end-users in companies, public authorities, education and IT associations.
